Resumen

La ultrasonografía como especialidad  juega un destacado papel en el diagnóstico y tratamiento de afecciones del aparato musculoesquelético y  autoinmune-reumáticas. Desde hace unos  años la introducción  de nuevas técnicas como  sondas  especiales lineales de alta frecuencia y la aplicación del Power Doppler a color  han permitido un nuevo enfoque en cuanto a su uso y aplicación con amplia difusión entre los reumatólogos. Se ha convertido en una herramienta muy importante en el diagnóstico de artritis inflamatoria, el monitoreo de la actividad, respuesta a la terapéutica y guía para efectuar intervenciones. EULAR,  determinó crear una fuerza de tarea destinada a evaluar  los contenidos para, enseñar y entrenar a los profesionales médicos que se quieran desarrollar en las técnicas de USM, para atender pacientes con afecciones reumáticas y MSE. En Cuba desarrollamos hace unos 20 años el primer curso internacional de US para reumatólogos con el Prof. Bouffard, Walter Emory y  prof. Pineda de E.U y México, producto del cual hoy contamos con expertos en esta importante área. Resultan áreas clave del ingente desarrollo actual del US,  no sólo los reumatismos regionales y de partes blandas, sino la osteoartrosis, las artritis inflamatorias,  detección de erosiones, entesitis, artropatias seronegativas, Artritis por depósitos de cristales y estudios de la piel en Esclerosis sistémica. La  directiva del Grupo Nacional y de la Sociedad cubana de Reumatología  ha tomado muy en serio la importancia de difundir, desarrollar y sistematizar esta técnica y amplificar su uso entre los reumatólogos y fomentar su inclusión en la formación curricular académica de los residentes de reumatología en el conexto del nuevo plan de desarrollo hacia el 2026 que indicara desarrollar el MINSAP de Cuba, y que se está implementando.
