Relación existente entre COVID-19 y enfermedades reumáticas a partir de sus semejanzas etiopatogénicas

Los pacientes afectados por la COVID-19 suelen experimentar, después de la resolución del proceso agudo de esta enfermedad, la persistencia de una serie de manifestaciones clínicas que orientan a la posible aparición de una enfermedad reumática. Esta situación orienta hacia la posible relación entre COVID-19 y enfermedades reumáticas. El objetivo de esta investigación fue exponer las semejanzas etiopatogénicas existente entre estas dos afecciones. Para esto se realizó una investigación básica, no experimental, descriptiva y transversal que permitió obtener como resultados la descripción generalizada de los mecanismos etiopatogénicos de ambas afecciones, para, posteriormente, identificar las semejanzas existentes y definir, adecuadamente, la relación existente entre COVID-19 y enfermedades reumáticas. Se identifica como elementos de peso la desregulación de la función del sistema inmune, la presencia de un proceso inflamatorio mantenido y la producción de autoanticuerpos que condiciona complicaciones y daño articular y en otros órganos y sistemas de órganos; todo esto secundarios a la activación de la respuesta inmune mediada por linfocitos T y B. Se concluye que la COVID-19 genera una afectación inmunológica que, conjuntamente con las alteraciones que se presentan en el sistema inmune debido al proceso envejecimiento, predisponen el aumento del riesgo de aparición de ER propiamente dicha o de manifestaciones clínicas frecuentes de este tipo de afecciones. La presencia de una desregulación del sistema inmune, con la consiguiente perpetuación de un proceso inflamatorio persistente, constituye la principal alteración que sustenta la relación existente entre la COVID-19 y las enfermedades reumáticas.
