Keywords:
osteoarthritis, arthrosis, telerheumatology, telemedicineAbstract
Osteoarthritis is a chronic degenerative disease whose incidence is increasing especially in the elderly population. Application of telemedicine to this pathology gained greater expansion during and after COVID-19 Pandemic; applied through various digital media methods and considering it as a therapeutic option. The objective of the present research project is to conduct a literature review to determine the main advantages of the use of telemedicine in osteoarthritis at the international level. Information collection was carried out through the review of articles in english and spanish published since January 1st 2019 in the PubMed, Clinical key and Google Scholar databases. The key words “osteoarthritis”, “arthrosis”, “telerheumatology”, “telemedicine” was used. In total, 221 publications were found from the 3 databases, 11 were discarded for being duplicates and 179 for not meeting the inclusion criteria. Finally, 24 publications were selected and 7 were used for the theoretical-conceptual aspects. There is a potential change in the application of health services, especially in the therapy and monitoring of patients with chronic diseases such as osteoarthritis; generating great acceptance and satisfaction in patients. In addition, to good long-term results in pain, insomnia, functional capacity and greater cost-effectiveness.
