El Lupus Eritematoso Sistémico constituye una enfermedad crónica de base autoinmune la cual es capaz de agredir múltiples órganos y sistemas con grados variables de severidad y gravedad. El Sistema Nervioso Central puede ser blanco de esta afección y comportar un reto para los especialistas en el diagnostico y manejo de estos pacientes sobre todo atendiendo a las necesidades tecnológicas, de laboratorio, y recursos terapéuticos para su atención integral. Se realiza un estudio prospectivo descriptivo de tres pacientes ingresados en el Servicio Nacional de Reumatología con criterios diagnósticos para Lupus Eritematoso Sistémico según criterios del Colegio Americano de Reumatología. Estos pacientes son presentados a partir del interés que comporta la expresión clínica de manifestaciones propias del Sistema Nervioso Central con dificultades para el diagnóstico y enfoque terapéutico atendiendo a las posibilidades de cada centro para el manejo y evaluación de estos pacientes. Se realizan profundas reflexiones acerca de los elementos diagnósticos en el orden clínico, y evaluación terapéutica que sirvan de base a un enfoque racional ante casos complejos de esta entidadDownloads
