Linguistic interference in English language teaching

Introduction: Linguistic interference constitutes a barrier to learning the English language; Knowing its effects and corrective actions are essential to improve the quality of teaching this language.
Objective: Expose the effects of linguistic interferences in the learning of the English language and the main actions to implement to eradicate them.
Development: The effects of linguistic interference in learning the English language are described in a descriptive manner, based on some specific examples. The different types of interference and the specific skills that are most frequently affected are classified. Different educational strategies aimed at minimizing this effect are addressed and different actions and examples that could be implemented to minimize the negative influence that interference has on language learning are summarized.
Conclusions: linguistic interferences significantly affect the learning of the English language with emphasis on pronunciation, grammar and interpretation; However, there are a series of actions that can be implemented with the aim of minimizing its negative effect and enhancing the student's confidence in their learning process.
