Polymyositis-dermatomyositis and pregnancy
Keywords:
polymyositis and pregnancy, dermatomyositis and pregnancyAbstract
Polymyositis-dermatomyositis is a diffuse inflammatory disease of skeletal muscle of unknown etiology existing evidence of immunological factors in its pathogenesis .The incidence of the disease is low and involves mainly skin and muscles. It could be an acute ,sub acute and chronic illness which produces atrophy and degeneration of muscles .The idiopathic inflammatory myopathies are well defined considering etiopathogenic factors ,therapy and prognosis .However scientific reports do not make important differences between polymyositis and dermatomyositis .References of polymyositis-dermatomyositis and pregnancy are not common probably associated to the low incidence of the disease being the higher prevalence about the fifty years of age.
