Actualizaciones en la etiopatogenia de la artritis séptica

La artritis séptica es una infección que conlleva una inflamación articular y constituye una emergencia médica que puede destruir rápidamente la articulación causando un daño irreversible de la función articular. Aunque no es una patología común, la magnitud de este problema no ha variado sustancialmente en los últimos 25 años a pesar del desarrollo de mejores agentes antimicrobianos y de una notable mejoría de la atención médica. En este trabajo realizamos una revisión actualizada de los factores etiopatogénicos asociados a la artritis séptica para alertar que el correcto diagnóstico y tratamiento de esta patología mejoraría notablemente su pronóstico.
