Consecuencias de la fractura de cadera en pacientes ancianos operados

Se realizó una investigación descriptiva retrospectiva con objetivo de aportar evidencias científicas sobre las consecuencias de la fractura de cadera en pacientes ancianos, operados, seguidos en consulta externa del Hospital “Fructuoso Rodríguez” de La Habana, entre Julio 2008 a Junio del 2009. Los resultados fueron:La capacidad para realizar actividades básicas de la vida diaria fue evaluada con el Índice Katz, resultando el mayor número a los pacientes con discapacidad moderada seguido de la severa. Solo una cifra cercana a la cuarta parte de los ancianos estudiados estaba sin limitaciones.Para determinar capacidad funcional, referido a las actividades instrumentadas, utilizamos el índice Lawton, resultando se reduce el grupo de pleno.Predominan los ancianos que clasifican con grado de gran dependencia, seguidos de los de severa. Entre las consecuencias negativas para las familias priman las crisis internas, y afectaciones del cuidador.
