Reticular erythema in a patient with back pain
Keywords:
eritema ab igne, calor local, livedoAbstract
The development of new technologies is changing our lives in many aspects, including the appearance of new pathologies and the change in the causes of others already known. The "ab igne" erythema is a type of hypermelanosis produced by chronic exposure to moderate heat, which has traditionally been related to the use of braziers, hot water bags or electric blankets, currently we can see them related to the use of laptops . The diagnosis is eminently clinical and the diagnostic suspicion along with the directed anamnesis will reveal the chronic exposure to thermal radiation. It is necessary to keep in mind these new etiological agents to avoid diagnostic delays and the consequent worsening of the clinical picture. The knowledge of this clinical entity is important given that it is within the differential diagnosis of the pathology with cutaneous reticulated lesions, present habitually in certain rheumatological diseases. Physicians should know this entity to suspect it and warn our patients of the risk of direct and continued support of a heat source.Downloads
