Caracterización de los pacientes con gota atendidos en la consulta externa del hospital regional de Malabo

Las alteraciones del metabolismo de las purinas pueden dar lugar a la gota, una enfermedad originada por elevación de los niveles de ácido úrico ocasionada por múltiples causas, representando la artritis una de sus principales manifestaciones clínicas. En este artículo mostramos el resultado del estudio biópsico de la membrana sinovial tomada por artroscopia, realizadas en el servicio de anatomía patológica del Hospital Docente Clínico Quirúrgico 10 de Octubre de pacientes con diagnóstico de artritis gotosa atendidos en el Centro de Reumatología, en un periodo de siete años, observando entre los principales hallazgos hiperplasia e hipertrofia de sinoviocitos en la capa superficial de la membrana sinovial, proliferación de fibroblastos y fibras colágenas e infiltrado inflamatorio crónico, la presencia de tofos en el estroma de 13 biopsias y los cristales de uratos relacionados de modo dependiente con hipertrofia de sinoviocitos y las células gigantes.
