Superación profesional para la atención médica integral a pacientes con osteoartritis

La osteoartritis es una enfermedad degenerativa que genera elevados índices de discapacidad y afectación de la percepción de calidad de vida relacionada con la salud. Se presenta con mayor frecuencia en personas mayores de 50 años de edad; sin embargo, puede aparecer en edades tempranas de la vida si se presentan condiciones favorables para su aparición. Si bien es cierto que no llega a poner en peligro la vida del paciente si genera distintos grados de afectación en relación con la movilidad, la realización de actividades físicas y la participación social de la persona afectada. En la actualidad existen factores de riesgos definidos para esta enfermedad que permiten la sospecha clínica temprana de la afección; sin embargo, son escasas las medidas que se realizan en el primer nivel de atención en pos de diagnosticar tempranamente la enfermedad y disminuir la discapacidad funcional y la afectación de la calidad de vida que ella genera. El objetivo de esta investigación es exponer la necesidad de un programa de superación profesional para la atención médica integral a pacientes con osteoartritis en el primer nivel de atención de salud; basado en elementos preventivos, diagnósticos y terapéuticos de la enfermedad. La superación profesional constituye la única alternativa viable a la generación de conocimientos actualizados sobre la osteoartritis, facilitando el diagnóstico precoz y tratamiento adecuado. Los programas de educación continua, basado en una metodología teórica práctica, garantizan la atención integral de los pacientes con osteoartritis desde el punto de vista biopsicosocial.
