Abstract

Las enfermedades reumáticas constituyen uno de los grupos de enfermedades que con mayor frecuencia se presentan en el primer nivel de atención de salud. Dentro de sus características más distintivas destacan la generación de distintos grados de discapacidad funcional y la afectación a la percepción de calidad de vida relacionada con la salud. El diagnóstico precoz y el tratamiento oportuno constituyen las herramientas que se orientan al mejor control de la enfermedad; sin embargo, para lograrlo se necesita aumentar el nivel de preparación y competencia profesional del equipo de salud que labora en el primer nivel de atención. El objetivo de esta investigación es exponer, desde el punto de vista de la formación médica, los mecanismos que pueden formar parte de herramientas de superación profesional en el primer nivel de atención en base al reconocimiento de los elementos que permiten el diagnóstico de las enfermedades reumáticas y la correcta orientación diagnóstica. Se realiza un breve bosquejo de los elementos que deben ser incluidos tanto en la educación médica de pregrado como de posgrado. Se concluye que el abordaje de las enfermedades reumáticas debe constituir una practica de superación permanente, como alternativa viable a disminuir la discapacidad funcional y aumentar la percepción de calidad de vida relacionada con la salud de estos pacientes.
