El modelo educativo basado en competencias como expresión de calidad en la educación médica superior

La educación superior tiene la responsabilidad de preparar a los estudiantes universitarios para que al momento de graduarse lo hagan con todas las herramientas necesarias que garanticen el adecuado desempeño profesional. Existen distintos modelos educativos; sin embargo, el modelo basado en competencias facilita un aprendizaje que se centra en la consolidación de las habilidades y destrezas necesarias. El objetivo de esta investigación es exponer los elementos necesarios para la implementación del modelo educativo basado en competencias como expresión de calidad en la educación médica superior. Se realiza un análisis de las ventajas que ofrece el modelo educativo por competencias, así como sus formas de aplicación en la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo. Como principales resultados se describen, además de las ventajas, los elementos que permiten la implementación y consolidación del modelo educativo basado en competencias. Se concluye que el modelo educativo basado en competencia reúne una serie de elementos que favorecen la calidad del proceso docente aprendizaje. En la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo se encuentran creadas las condiciones para su implementación siendo considerado como una expresión de calidad en la educación médica superior.
