La enseñanza de los principios terapéuticos de las plantas medicinales en la educación médica

El panorama médico mundial se encuentra en constante movimiento y cambio; todos los sucesos se orientan hacia la búsqueda de alternativas diagnósticas y terapéuticas que permitan mejorar el estado de salud de las personas. La integración de la medicina natural ha ganado fuerza en los últimos años; sin embargo, es en la educación médica donde deben realizarse los esfuerzos para su incorporación durante la formación premédica. El objetivo de esta investigación es describir los elementos y recursos metodológicos que pueden ser incluidos en la educación médica para garantizar la integración de la medicina natural basado en el conocimiento de los principios activos de las plantas medicinales. Para esto se realiza una investigación básica y descriptiva que ofrece como principales resultados la exposición de las principales ventajas y desafíos que ofrece la integración de la medicina natural a la práctica médica diaria. Se abordan elementos relacionados con la necesidad y forma de integración de la medicina natural y como la investigación formativa, como herramienta docente metodológica puede facilitar este paso. Se concluye que la investigación formativa, basada en sus distintas modalidades, constituye un recurso metodológico ayuda a la integración de la medicina natural basado en el conocimiento de los principios activos de las plantas medicinales. A pesar de conocerse las ventajas de la medicina natural, aún se encuentra lejos su integración en los esquemas terapéuticos. Se vislumbra desafíos que pueden ser solventados, en base a las ventajas que ofrece para el mejoramiento del estado de salud de las personas.
