Dermatitis associated with rheumatic diseases: early recognition and multidisciplinary approach
Keywords:
Dermatitis; autoimmune diseases; rheumatic diseasesAbstract
Rheumatic diseases are a group of chronic autoimmune diseases characterized by a strong association with various skin manifestations, which can be key indicators in the diagnosis and management of these pathologies. The severity of the dermatological manifestations is often an element to evaluate the clinical activity of the rheumatic disease. This opinion article emphasizes the importance of early recognition of dermatitis in rheumatic patients and the positive impact of a multidisciplinary approach. Collaboration between rheumatologists, dermatologists and immunologists is essential to optimize care and improve the quality of life of patients. It is concluded that the skin, the largest organ of the human body, suffers the ravages of the sustained inflammatory process that characterizes autoimmune conditions; its analysis and semiological interpretation is a fundamental resource for clinical suspicion, definitive diagnosis and clinical evaluation of the activity of rheumatic diseases.
