Educational innovation as an alternative for improvement in higher education
Keywords:
Educational innovation represents a key strategy for addressing the current challenges of higher education. In a context characterized by digital transformation, student diversity, and the demand for 21st-century skills, innovation means reconfiguring pedagogical, methodological, and technological practices to achieve more meaningful, inclusive, and contextualized learning. This transformation is not limited to the use of digital tools but entails a paradigm shift where the student is the protagonist of their educational process, the teacher acts as a critical mediator, and methodologies are oriented toward active participation, critical thinking, and the solution of real-world problems. The objective of this research was to describe the advantages offered by educational innovation as an alternative for improving higher education. Documents addressing the proposed research topic were analyzed, and the results are enriched by experiences gained during teaching practice. It is concluded that educational innovation opens the way for the exchange, modernization, equity, and adaptability of study content at all levels in higher education. It constitutes a viable alternative for improving learning strategies and educational models that enhance the quality of the teaching-learning process.Abstract
