Chikungunya virus infection and its possible relationship with neurological isolated syndrome: an emerging hypothesis
Keywords:
fiebre Chikungunya, virus Chikungunya, síndrome neurológico aisladoAbstract
Chikungunya fever, caused by the Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) of the Alphavirus genus, is an arboviral disease of increasing global importance, classically characterized by high fever and debilitating arthralgia. However, the spectrum of the disease has expanded to include severe and often underdiagnosed neurological manifestations. Through this letter, we wish to highlight a possible association between CHIKV infection and the presentation of Neurologically Isolated Syndrome (NES), a concept that warrants further investigation for early diagnosis and management.
