Abstract

ABSTRACT:

Introduction: This research addresses the scientific-technological research method, highlighting its contribution to the development of research and technological competencies oriented toward problem-solving in educational contexts. This study is based on a teaching and research experience conducted with 45 students of the Computer Engineering program at the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Bié, Republic of Angola, during the academic years 2024–2025 and 2025–2026.

Objective: To analyze the application of the scientific-technological research method in a training process and assess its impact on the development of students’ research and technological skills.

Methods: Theoretical methods (analysis-synthesis and literature review) and empirical methods (observation, surveys, and evaluation of practical activities) were used. A project-based learning approach was applied, structured in stages: problem identification, hypothesis formulation, state-of-the-art review, solution development, and validation through prototypes.

Results: A significant improvement was observed in students’ ability to identify real problems, propose viable technological solutions, and apply systematic research procedures. Likewise, an increase in motivation toward autonomous learning and collaborative work was noted.

Conclusions: The application of the scientific-technological research method in educational contexts fostered the integration of theory and practice, problem-solving, and decision-making, contributing to the development of research competencies, creativity, and critical thinking. This result demonstrates its relevance for the comprehensive training and future professional performance of students.
