Alteraciones oftalmológicas en el curso de la artritis reumatoide y derivadas de su tratamiento

Se efectuó un estudio con 64 pacientes adultos enfermos de artritis reumatoide a los que se les realizó una investigación oftalmológica que incluyó examen clínico y métodos diagnósticos como fondo de ojo, test de Schirmer 1 y tinción con rosa de Bengala al 1% con el objetivo de diagnosticar cualquier alteración ocular que presentaran y relacionarla con el tiempo de evolución de su enfermedad de base.
Se comprobó la alta frecuencia con que aparecen lesiones oftalmológicas en pacientes afectos de artritis reumatoide, siendo la queratoconjuntivitis Seca la más observada con 11 casos, siguiéndole enfrecuencia las lesiones producidas por esteroides con 6 pacientes, y solo se encontró pigmentación retineana en 2 enfermos de los 34 que tomaban habitualmente cloroquina.
