Esclerosis sistémica progresiva. Aspectos epidemiológico-clínicos en la provincia de Pinar del Río

Realizamos un estudio descriptivo longitudinal prospectivo de 35 pacientes de la Clínica Provincial de Reumatología “Isabel Rubio Díaz” de Pinar del Río con diagnóstico confirmado de Esclerosis Sistémica atendiendo a criterios de la Asociación Americana de Reumatología derivado de una búsqueda activa de casos en coordinación con los servicios de atención primaria de salud, en el período comprendido de enero de 1992 a enero de 1998, a fin de determinar aspectos epidemiológicos y clínicos de la entidad en nuestro medio. Su presentación resultó más frecuente en blancos del sexo femenino en edades de 30 a 60 años y apreciamos tasas elevadas en los municipios pinareños con características geólogo-mineras. Los síntomas más frecuentes por orden de presentación fueron: Artralgias, edema indoloro, esclerosis cutánea, rigidez articular, distagia y el fenómeno de Raynaud en tiempos disímiles, el orden de afectación cutánea: dedos, dorso de las manos, antebrazos, cara y porción distal de miembros inferiores. La mayoría viven más de 10 años después de los primeros síntomas, y el 37% después del diagnóstico confirmado.Downloads
