¿Se relacionan las presentaciones poco frecuentes de las hernias inguinales con la enfermedad reumática? Detalles de un caso

Introducción: las manifestaciones musculares en la enfermedad reumatoidea, incluyen debilidad y atrofia muscular. No se ha descrito con anterioridad que estos signos puedan estar vinculados a la debilidad constitucional del plano posterior de la pared abdominal que da origen a las hernias inguinales.Objetivo: describir un caso de una hernia inguinal unilateral y directa en una paciente de sexo femenino con enfermedad reumatoidea, lo cual constituye una presentación poco frecuente.
Discusión: La hernioplastia inguinal constituye una intervención quirúrgica de elevada frecuencia a nivel mundial que busca reducir la posibilidad de complicaciones del contenido herniario (atascamiento, estrangulación, perforación de asas, entre otros), que obliguen a intervenciones de urgencia asociadas a una mayor morbimortalidad. La peculiaridad del caso aquí descrito reside en que el tipo de hernia inguinal (directa, indirecta y recidivada), está asociado al sexo. Los pacientes portadores de hernia inguinal directa por lo general pertenecen al sexo masculino.
Conclusiones: En la actualidad para cumplir a cabalidad el rol de brindar una atención médica de calidad se ha de partir del reconocimiento de que no resulta extraño la coexistencia de dos situaciones clínicas en pacientes con enfermedad reumatoidea, se hace necesario entonces desarrollar eficazmente la vigilancia de las enfermedades y procesos con posible asociación a esta, de manera que se consiga aportar evidencia científica en esta dirección; este artículo ha dado a conocer, mediante la descripción de un caso de una hernia inguinal unilateral y directa en una paciente de sexo femenino con enfermedad reumatoidea, el manejo efectuado en la prevención de complicaciones relacionadas con el riesgo quirúrgico- anestésico de estos pacientes. Este caso que abre derroteros a la indagación más profunda en futuras investigaciones a partir de la interrogante ¿Se relacionan las presentaciones poco frecuentes de las hernias inguinales con la enfermedad reumatoidea?
