Fibromialgia reumática: Aspectos Psiquiátricos.

La fibromialgia reumática, también llamada fibrositis o dolor miofascial, es un síndrome clínico de presentación frecuente cuyo diagnostico, apoyado en el examen físico, a menudo se retrasa por su inespecificidad, por la práctica de diversas pruebas complementarias, para descartas otras entidades o por su solapamiento con trastornos psiquiátricos. El psiquiatra se ve con frecuencia implicado en su tratamiento. Su correcto reconocimiento además de evitar el desgaste psicológico de pacientes y médicos, prevenir a menudo el desarrollo de una depresión y el gasto de recursos sanitarios, permite iniciar un plan adecuado de tratamiento con posibilidades de mejoría según la sintomatología prevalente. El objetivo de nuestro trabajo es determinar las alteraciones psiquiátricas en el componente clínico de estos pacientes y contribuir así a su mejor identificación y manejo tanto para médicos generales como por los psiquiatras. La depresión es la alteración más característica de los 100 pacientes con fibromialgia de nuestro estudio.
