Uso del ozono médico como terapia combinada en el tratamiento de las afecciones de rodillas

Introducción: las rodillas, por sus características anatómicas, son considerada el grupo articular que mayor número y frecuencia de afecciones presentan. Su afectación genera distintos grados de discapacidad por lo que resulta necesario lograr en control de los procesos que afectan este grupo articular; en este sentido, el ozono utilizado como terapia combinada, representa una alternativa terapéutica.
Objetivo: dar a conocer las ventajas de la utilización del ozono médico como terapia combinada en el tratamiento de las lesiones de rodilla.
Metodos: se realizó una intervención terapéutica en 232 pacientes con lesiones inflamatorias y/o degenerativas a las cuales se aplicó ozono médico como terapia combinada. Se utilizó el Health Assessment Questionnaire para determinar capacidad funcional y se realizaron exámenes de laboratorio para determinar intensidad del proceso inflamatorio. Se utilizó la prueba de McNemar para determinar cambios en la capacidad funcional de los pacientes y en la intensidad del proceso inflamatorio.
Resultados: promedio de edad de 52,31 años con predominio de pacientes entre 50 y 59 años (34,05 %); existió un mayor por ciento de pacientes femeninas (69,83 %) y con predominio de procesos degenerativos (58,19 %).
Conclusiones: la utilización del ozono médico como terapia combinada contribuye a disminuir la intensidad del dolor y la incapacidad en pacientes con procesos inflamatorios y degenerativos que afectan las rodillas.
