Osteoporosis: una mirada a sus factores de riesgo y prevención durante la pandemia de COVID-19

La osteoporosis es una enfermedad crónica, del metabolismo óseo, silenciosa, que se desarrolla por décadas y ocasiona discapacidad, en estrecha relación con el envejecimiento. La identificación de los factores de riesgo permite un diagnóstico temprano. La aparición del COVID-19 ocasionó, a escala global, una ruptura en los sistemas de salud; afectó negativamente el seguimiento de los pacientes con afecciones crónicas no trasmisibles, no escapando la osteoporosis de su impacto desfavorable. Educar y promover son herramientas poderosas para la prevención de la osteoporosis y sus secuelas, en una etapa de pandemia por la infección del SARS-CoV-2.Downloads
