Manifestaciones neurológicas en una paciente con lupus eritematoso sistémico

El lupus eritematoso sistémico es una enfermedad inflamatoria sistémica cuyo proceso inflamatorio genera un importante número de manifestaciones clínicas articulares y extraarticulares. Dentro de las manifestaciones extraarticulares destaca, entre otras, la afectación neurológica, el compromiso puede ser tanto a nivel del sistema nervioso central o periférico. El objetivo de la presente investigación es presentar el caso de una paciente de 56 años de edad, con diagnóstico de lupus eritematoso sistémico de 18 años de evolución y que ha presentado cuadro crónico de cefalea, neuropatía periférica y cuadro de miastenia gravis como manifestaciones neurológicas de la enfermedad. Se considera importante el reporte de este caso para dar a conocer la importancia que revisten las manifestaciones neurológicas como parte de las manifestaciones extraarticulares de esta enfermedad; siendo este tipo de afección determinantes en el curso de la enfermedad y en la calidad de vida de los pacientes.
