Alteraciones genitourinarias en pacientes con enfermedades reumáticas

Introducción: Las enfermedades reumáticas se caracterizan por la presencia de un proceso inflamatorio local y sistémico que condiciona manifestaciones articulares y extraarticulares; dentro de estas últimas, una de las menos estudiadas son las manifestaciones genitourinarias.
Objetivo: Señalar las manifestaciones genitourinarias que con mayor frecuencia se presentan en pacientes con enfermedades reumáticas.
Metodología: estudio básico, con diseño no experimental, descriptivo, retrospectivo y transversal. El universo estuvo constituido por 147 pacientes con diagnóstico confirmado de enfermedades reumáticas atendidos en el servicio de consulta externa del Hospital Andino de Chimborazo en el periodo enero agosto 2023.
Resultados: Promedio de edad de 53,69 años, predominio de pacientes entre 50 y 59 años (31,97 %), del sexo femenino (77,55 %) y con tiempo de evolución entre 1 y 5 años (57,83 %). El 64,62 % de los pacientes refirió manifestaciones genitourinarias, la vulvovaginitis (41,30 %), la uretritis (17,39 %) y la cistitis (15,21 %) fueron las de mayor frecuencia de presentación.
Conclusiones: Las manifestaciones genitourinarias, a pesar de su elevado porcentaje de aparición, constituyen un grupo de afecciones infradiagnosticado y subestimado en pacientes con ER; el proceso inflamatorio parece ser el principal agente etiopatogénico que genera la aparición de estas manifestaciones clínicas.
