Afecciones oftalmológicas más frecuentemente asociadas a enfermedades reumáticas.
Abstract
Las enfermedades reumáticas presentan con frecuencia manifestaciones extra-articulares: lesiones cutáneas, pulmonares, cardíacas, neurológicas y frecuentemente, oftalmológicas. Su asociación con estas últimas sustenta el vínculo entre la Reumatología y la Oftalmología.
Objetivo: Revisar las afecciones oftalmológicas más frecuentemente asociadas a enfermedades reumáticas.
Desarrollo: Se explicitan los principales aspectos que caracterizan las mayormente frecuentes manifestaciones oculares en pacientes y su relación con las enfermedades reumáticas, destacando además la importancia de mantener un enfoque multidisciplinario en que se impliquen los saberes inherentes a la Reumatología y la Oftalmología, que a su vez contribuyan a la prevención de afecciones oculares propias de la enfermedad de base y propicien el mejoramiento de su salud ocular.
Conclusiones: Se reconoce la necesidad de profundizar en la comprensión y manejo de aspectos esenciales en la relación entre enfermedades reumáticas y las diversas manifestaciones oftalmológicas, así como la utilidad de accionar de prevención.
