Uso de tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones para la enseñanza del idioma inglés en la educación superior

Las tecnologías de la información y comunicaciones son un conjunto de herramientas y programas que tratan, administran, transmiten y comparten la información mediante soportes tecnológicos. Durante la pandemia de COVID-19 se convirtieron en una alternativa viable para la continuidad del proceso docente educativo. En la actualidad continúan utilizándose como parte de los esquemas metodológicos utilizados para enseñar el idioma inglés en los estudiantes de la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo. El objetivo de esta investigación fue describir las ventajas de la utilización de las diferentes TICs en la enseñanza del idioma inglés en la educación superior. Para esto se realizó un análisis pormenorizado de las diferentes TICs aplicadas, sus ventajas, aportes y como se han mantenido hasta la actualidad; lo que permitió describir los beneficios aportados por cada una de las modalidades utilizadas, con énfasis en las que con mayor frecuencia fueron utilizadas como son los casos de las plataformas virtuales de reunión y aulas virtuales. Se concluye que el uso de las TICs permitió mantener la enseñanza del idioma inglés durante el periodo de pandemia por COVID-19. Sus ventajas, bondades y beneficios permitieron que se sigan utilizando hasta la actualidad y que pasaran de ser una alternativa viable en su momento a convertirse en una necesidad actual.
