Tratamiento rehabilitador como piedra angular en el control de las enfermedades reumáticas

Introducción: Las enfermedades reumáticas son un grupo de alrededor de 250 enfermedades que se caracterizan por generar discapacidad funcional y disminución de la percepción de calidad de vida asociada a la presencia de dolor, inflamación y deformidad fundamentalmente. Los esquemas terapéuticos incluyen la rehabilitación como estrategia para minimizar la discapacidad y favorecer la recuperación del paciente.
Objetivo: evidenciar el papel que juega el tratamiento rehabilitador como piedra angular en el control de las enfermedades reumáticas.
Metodología: investigación básica, descriptiva, retrospectiva y de campo donde la población estuvo constituida por 587 pacientes con enfermedades reumáticas atendidas en el Hospital Andino de Chimborazo en el periodo enero julio 2022. La muestra quedó conformada por un total de 233 pacientes. Se realizará la revisión de las historias clínicas de los pacientes para obtener la información relacionada con los objetivos del estudio.
Resultados: promedio de edad de 58,45 años. Predominio de pacientes femeninas (63,95 %) y con diagnóstico de artritis reumatoide (74,25 %). En el 59,23 % de los casos se identificó comorbilidades asociadas, destacó la hipertensión arterial (42,03 %), el hipotiroidismo (28,26 %) y la diabetes mellitus (20,29 %). En el 67,38 % de los pacientes fue prescrito tratamiento rehabilitador. Sobre todo en pacientes con miopatía inflamatoria (100,00 %) y espondiloartropatías (92,31 %).
Conclusiones: El elevado porcentaje de prescripción de ejercicios de rehabilitación constituye la evidencia más explícita para demostrar que el tratamiento rehabilitador es considerado como una piedra angular en el control de las enfermedades reumáticas.
