Contabilidad como eje central del manejo financiero de unidades de salud

El mundo contemporáneo actual se debate en enfoques de distintos estilos que condicionan el mejoramiento de los servicios de salud basados en la calidad del servicio prestado. El contexto salubrista mundial cambia constantemente; presenta nuevas enfermedades y retos que demandan de los profesionales de la salud una mejor preparación. Sin embargo, el verdadero reto está en mano de las autoridades que tienen que garantizar recursos humanos y tecnológicos, insumos y otros recursos para hacer posible una atención médica de calidad. El Servicio de Salud, al igual que cualquier Administración Pública, necesita llevar un control para proporcionar una información útil y reducir la incertidumbre en la toma de decisiones. Y esto se hace a través de la contabilidad, que es la manera idónea de transmitir información de la actividad económica realizada y conocer su evolución. El objetivo de la presente investigación es exponer la importancia que reviste la contabilidad como el eje central que garantiza el manejo financiero de las unidades de salud. Se exponen los criterios que refuerzan la necesidad de mantener un adecuado control de los activos contables que garanticen la salud financiera de las unidades de salud; de esta forma se garantiza la continuidad de la atención de salud independientemente de los retos y necesidades. Se concluye que la seguridad, control y adecuado funcionamiento de las unidades de salud dependen en gran medida de su adecuado manejo financiero basando en los elementos contables.
