Consideraciones actuales en la patogenia inmunológica de la artritis reactiva

La aparente paradoja en el funcionamiento de la respuesta inmune entre la infección y la autoinmunidad explica la patogenia de algunas enfermedades entre las que se encuentra la Artritis reactiva. En esta revisión se actualizan algunos de los aspectos del huésped y de los gérmenes que están implicados en la patogenia de esta entidad. La relación entre las Enfermedades autoinmunes y las infecciones resulta una paradoja aparente de las funciones que desempeña el sistema inmunológico en el mantenimiento de la homeostasis que hace posible la salud. Nos referimos con toda intención a esta paradoja como aparente, pues la implicación de los microorganismos en la patogenia de algunas enfermedades autoinmunes ha podido demostrarse de manera irrefutable (como en el caso de la fiebre reumática y el estreptococo beta hemolítico del grupo A. La pregunta de cómo los microorganismos contribuyen a la autoinmunidad continúa siendo del interés de los reumatólogos clínicos y de los inmunólogos básicos. En el siguiente párrafo, se relacionan los principales mecanismos que están involucrados en la inmunopatogenia de estas entidades.
