Conocimiento y aplicación del aprendizaje significativo en la educación superior

Introducción: El aprendizaje significativo constituye una herramienta metodológica que fomenta una serie de ventajas en los docentes y estudiantes en los cuales se implementa. Su implementación resulta significativa para elevar la calidad del proceso docente educativo.
Objetivo: Describir las ventajas del aprendizaje significativo desde el punto de vista de docentes y estudiantes universitarios.
Métodos: Se realizó una investigación básica, no experimental y descriptiva que incluyó a 23 docentes y 87 estudiantes universitarios para conocer la opinión que tienen sobre las ventajas que ofrece el aprendizaje significativo y el nivel de conocimiento sobre sus elementos básicos. A cada participante se le aplicó una pequeña encuesta que permitió obtener la información necesaria para dar cumplimiento al objetivo propuesto.
Resultados: existió un predominio de docentes femeninas (69,57 %) y de estudiantes de este mismo sexo (60,92 %). El 34,78 % de los docentes refirió más de 10 años de experiencia en la docencia. La generación de habilidades para la investigación fue la ventaja del aprendizaje significativo más referida por los docentes (82,61 %) y estudiantes (83,91 %). Se identificó un predominio del nivel de conocimiento medio sobre aprendizaje signific ativo en los docentes (56,52 %) y de nivel de conocimiento bajo (58,62 %) en los estudiantes.
Conclusiones: A pesar de reconocerse adecuadamente las ventajas que brinda el aprendizaje significativo por los docentes y estudiantes; se debe seguir trabajando y capacitando a ambos grupos para mejorar el nivel de conocimiento sobre los elementos generales de esta actividad académica, con la finalidad de garantizar su adecuada implementación.
