Menisco discoideo y plica sinovial mediopatelar: diagnóstico por artroscopia

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo retrospectivo en 2050 pacientes a los que se les practicó cirugía artroscópica de la rodilla en el Servicio Nacional de Reumatología del Hospital Clínico Quirúrgico 10 de Octubre, desde enero del 2000 hasta enero del 2005, con el objetivo de identificar la asociación entre la plica sinovial mediopatelar y el menisco discoideo. La información se obtuvo de los informes operatorios, y el análisis estadístico se realizó utilizando las frecuencias relativas y porcentajes. La presencia de menisco discoideo fue relativamente pequeña (1.5 %), predominando en el sexo femenino en el grupo de edades de 45 y más años, más de la mitad se asociaron a plica sinovial mediopatelar (59.37 %) y de tipo B, con una edad promedio de 41 años. Predominó la variedad de menisco discoideo intermedio de localización externa lesionado, el hallazgo endoscópico más frecuente asociado fue el daño condral de rótula y el daño condral del cóndilo femoral. Se recomendó tener presente clínicamente al menisco discoideo como diagnóstico frecuentemente asociado a la plica sinovial mediopatelar ya que las manifestaciones clínicas que ofrecen son debido a su polimorfismo y que estos nunca se presentan solos, sino asociados a otras lesiones complejas como las de daño condral.
